You do not have to become 'that' ambitious. A bunch of artists offer their songs to use completely royalty free as long as you credit them (which can be done in your game's project management page). The exact conditions can be found in a box called "Licensing Terms" on each song's page on Newgrounds.
The only drawback is that digging through the Audio Portal for songs you feel are fitting will take quite a while.
